YTTC Information

A brief walk-out on general principles and guidelines?

We respect one another (and the compound) – and we all –teachers, staff, and students - find all sorts of loving and creative ways of showing this on a daily basis.

We silence between 10 PM and morning.

We don’t eat and drink nothing but water in the yoga halls to leave the place clean and inspiring to the next yoga class.

To make space for everybody during asana practice we leave all jewellery, books, extra clothing, book bags and purses in our room. Only yoga mat, notebooks and water bottles permitted in yoga hall.

What are the prerequisites to attend the YTTC?

Anyone aged 18 or above can enrol to attend the Heartland Yoga Teacher training in-person.

Which Airport do I fly into to reach the institution/ Dharamshala ?

The easiest route to the institution is to fly into New Delhi International Airport and travel to the institute from there.

How do I get to Heartland Yoga, Dharamansha?

There are three travel options you can choose to reach our institute from New Delhi International Airport::

1.Once you reach New Delhi International Airport, you can take a domestic flight to Dharamshala Airport. Before your travel, you can inform us about the date, arrival time, and other supporting details. We can arrange a ride for you from Dharamshala Airport, where you can be picked up and brought directly to Heartland Yoga. Please email the relevant information of your travel at: support@heartlandyog.org.

2. Once you reach New Delhi International Airport, you can take a private taxi to Heartland Yoga. We can arrange the ride for you if you mail us at support@heartlandyog.org containing relevant details about your travel. The cost of the private taxi ride ranges between €150- €160 (Euro), depending on the car you choose.

When should I arrive at the institution?

You must be responsible for making necessary travel arrangements to reach the institute on time. Can I arrive early and stay after?

Yes, you can choose to arrive before your date of joining. This is entirely up to your wishes. If you wish to stay longer than the duration of the training, kindly email your name and other relevant details at support@heartlandyog.org. You can directly make arrangements with Heartland Yoga to stay for longer.

What is Yoga Alliance?

Yoga Alliance was founded in 1999 as a professional trade group for the yoga business. It was established to develop highly acclaimed standards for yoga teachers and training courses. Visit www.yogaalliance.org for additional information.

Is Heartland Yoga certified by Yoga Alliance?

Yes, our institution is a certified USA Yoga Alliance Training school (RYS 200, RYS 300). We are also recognized and certified by the Government of India. Your training certificate will be valid and valuable internationally.

Will I be qualified after the completion of the course?

Yes, indisputably! Once you complete the course with us, you will have the skills to perform and teach traditional Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Meditation, and Yin Yoga to your fellow students and community globally.

How do I register as a teacher once I have graduated?

To register and gain the Yoga Alliance accreditation, please follow the instructions given on the official yoga alliance website. You can visit https://www.yogaalliance.org/Credentialing/HowToRegister.

Are the books and materials included in the price of the training?

As a registered trainee, you will receive student manuals to guide you throughout your experience here at Heartland Yoga. This manual is included in the price of the training. There are textbooks and recommended readings that will be announced to the students. These books are not included in the price of the training.

What subjects do you cover in your curriculum?

To get better clarity on this question, please refer to the specific course page you are interested in. There are different syllabi for different courses. A detailed description of each is given on the course page. Training programs and corresponding coursepacks at Heartland Yoga are meticulously designed to enable our students' total physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual transformation. Many experts and visitors have regarded Heartland Yoga Teacher Training as the most comprehensive one yet.

What is the language of instruction?

The course instruction is in English. Our student community is comprised of both native English speakers and bilingual English speakers. The teaching staff at Heartland Yoga are international, and we welcome students from diverse cultures and language abilities to join us. Our experienced teachers make it very highly comfortable for all students regardless of their cultural backgrounds.

Is there homework after the course?

Every student is required to complete post-training coursework, including a written research paper (a topic of your choice), observe and assist in classes, create and teach classes, participate in Community Seva activity (volunteer project), and submit reflection and meditation practice journals. Heartland Yoga mandates these activities to help you become a better, confident, sincere practitioner and an instructor in the future.

I am not sure if I want to teach. Can I still take the course?

Yes, you can take the course regardless of whether you want to become an instructor or not in the future. Heartland Yoga Training Courses are designed for everyone who is looking for self-transformation and meaning in their lives. You will gain proficiency over the techniques through the courses and thereby master your life. Essentially, our training programs focus on individual well-being. So, if you are interested in holistic development, cultivating inner awareness, and exploring your deeper self and meanings, our training is the best option for you. Many of our students join our programs just to widen their spiritual horizons, and most of them end up teaching, inspiring, and changing lives. The decision to become an instructor is entirely up to you. But, we guarantee that you will experience a transformation by being a part of Heartland Yoga.

How experienced do I need to be in Yoga to enroll in the training?

We have different requirements depending on the level of training you are joining.

1. For level one (200-hour teacher training), the only requirement is to be an individual with a willingness to learn and grow. We recommend at least six months of practice in Yoga; however, this is not a compulsory requirement. Everyone is welcome.

2. For level two (300-hour teacher training), you are required to complete a 200-hour certification from Heartland Yoga, or any other Yoga Alliance approved institute. At Heartland Yoga, we ensure our students are well-prepared to enroll in level 2. However, the coursepack may not be detailed enough at other training institutes. To match the bar set at Heartland Yoga for level 2 training, individuals joining us after graduating from other institutes must undergo extra training.

3. For Master level training, 300-hour training certification from Heartland Yoga and a minimum of one year of practice or teaching experience is required.

Cancelation | Upgrades | Transfers

Can I switch my course dates?

You must note that your spot will be reserved after meticulous prearrangements. Your spot will be accepted, and you will be required to put down the deposit only after considering your requirements. We recommend setting your course joining dates considering all your present and foreseeable requirements. However, if you wish to change your date due to unanticipated circumstances, we will do our best to accommodate your wishes.

Can I request a single room?

At Heartland Yoga, we follow the standard where every student shares a room with another participant. However, if you require a single room, you can make a request which will be accommodated based on availability.

How do I register?

Once we review and accept your application, you are required to pay a minimum deposit of €350. This deposit is directed towards your tuition.

What are the options to pay the balance?

We provide three options for our students to pay the balance:

1. Bank wire the amount to our account. The details of this account will be provided to you while you are paying the amount.

2. Pay on-site at the time of your arrival using cash or credit card.

3. Use online payment via PayPal or credit card.

Are there Scholarships available?

We encourage all our students to be the best version of themselves. To enable this, we offer scholarships to deserving candidates. Each course has a maximum of 2 scholarships. The selection for this will be decided based on certain predetermined criteria. You must fulfill these requirements to receive the scholarship.

When is the full payment due?

All students must complete their full payment no later than the day of check-in to the course. For any reason, if I wish to cancel my registration, will I receive a refund of the payment made? All deposits made are non-refundable, but the amount can be transferred to any other upcoming training with lifetime validity.

Can we transfer our registration to someone else?

Yes, please refer to the Terms and Conditions.

Can we get a refund if we cancel our registration?

Yes, please refer to the Terms and Conditions for the Refund Policy.

If we are unable to attend the program after registration, what can be done?

You have the option of transferring your registration for the program to a family member, relative or friend anytime on or before the schedule date by sending an email to support@heartlandyog.org. No other mode of communication for transfer requests will be accepted. Please also refer to the Terms and Conditions on the website

Special Requests

Can I switch my course dates?

Does participation in the training program automatically confer certification as a teacher? Every student must be committed to attending every scheduled class session during the training period. You are required to attend classes regularly and complete the prescribed homework. The certification is assured if you are present for every session and complete the homework. Failing this, you may not receive a Diploma of Certification at the time of graduation.

Can I request a single room?

At Heartland Yoga, we follow the standard where every student shares a room with another participant. However, if you require a single room, you can make a request which will be accommodated based on availability.

Can I request a specific roommate?

Yes, if you are friends or acquaintances with another participant at the training, you can request to be accommodated together. If you do not know anyone at the program, you need not worry. We ensure that every student has a roommate with a similar background and interest.

I love meat – can I bring my own products?

No! When joining Heartland Yoga for a shorter or longer period of your live, you join a wonderful, colourful, well tasting and fulfilling vegetarian lifestyle 24/7.

The city of Dharamansha is vegetarian as well e.g., all restaurants in Dharamansha are vegetarian, according to city ordinance.

Can we share the stay with our friends/relatives who have registered for the program?

Please write to us at support@heartlandyog.org. We will try to accommodate your request.

What about smoking, alcohol, doing drugs an all?

The answer is … no, no, no! We do not (at all!) allow smoking (including e-cigarettes), drugs in any type or drinking alcohol on the premises of Heartland Yoga including bedrooms, outdoor facilities.

Miscellaneous

Is Dharamshala safe?

Dharamshala is a recognized pilgrimage spot for Bhuddhism with a very calm environment. It is considered one of the safest places in the world. The road conditions are well-suited for travelers, and the local people of this town are extremely humble and ensure all the tourists and trainees are safe and sound. Moreover, our team at Heartland Yoga ensures all your needs are taken care of and will support you with any arrangements with which you may need assistance. We have had thousands of students traveling to Dharamshal, and everybody returns with a safe and fulfilling experience.

Should I get Vaccinations?

Yes, you must be up-to-date with the vaccine shots recommended for travel. Tetanus, Hepatitis A, and Typhoid vaccinations are the most recommended vaccinations. Due to the active spread of Covid-19, we also recommend you complete the minimum required dosage of Covid-19 Vaccination. We urge you to do some research about the environment in India before making any decisions about vaccination. Your responsibility is to stay informed about any safety and health alerts for the region you are traveling. If your visit is limited to Delhi and Rishikesh, Malaria is not a disease of concern. However, we suggest you visit travelhealth.ie/Countries/India.php for more information.

Is there any policy against harassment between students and student/teacher?

Heartland Yoga practices zero tolerance when it comes to harassment – sexual or bulling in other ways. We do not permit managers, employees, teachers, independent contractors, students, or others in the workplace to harass any other person because of age, gender (including pregnancy), race, ethnicity, culture, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, education, disability, socioeconomic status, genetic information, history, or any other basis proscribed by law. This goes for situations in our studio, online or in other situations representing Heartland Yoga.

Heartland Yoga cannot prevent or remedy harassment unless it knows about it. Any person mentioned above who knows of harassment or has been subjected to behaviour that may constitute harassment is encouraged to report such behaviour to a supervisor or the management of Heartland Yoga.

Any indication that harassment is taking place will be reported to and dealt with by the lead of the management that has the responsibility to take the needed action –could be mediating, summary dismissal and/or reporting to the police.

Any information provided during a grievance report review will be treated on a confidential basis. Similarly, any actions that the taken in response to the report will also be strictly confidential.

Do I need medical travel insurance?

Heartland Yoga require all teacher training students to have travel insurance that includes medical cover, particularly hospital admission in India and emergency evacuation to your own country. We strongly advise you to double check your insurance coverage with your travel agent before you leave your country.

Please send us an e-mail with your details before leaving your country.

(We need anelectronic filing system to all the dataregarding the students. That goes for information regarding insurance, closest relative in country of origin and all other information e.g., examination result … and this system must respectthe Indian protection law on data – the Personal Data Protection Bill (PDP)

Do I need vaccinations or malaria pills?

Heartland Yoga do not advise trainees on which vaccinations to get. But we do strongly suggest that you go to the local travel clinic or GP IN GOOD TIME to get a list of recommended vaccinations and advice on malaria and make a decision based on your doctor’s advice.

Is there a policy on photographing on the compound?

Unless otherwise specified, photographing or video filming with camera or cell phone are not allowed in the venue during meditation, sat-sang, asana class, massages, lectures, anywhere in the temple areas and during meals. This helps to maintain a tranquil and peaceful environment for all. When photographing during free time the photographer is responsible for asking any other for permission before photographing them.

Do the rooms have attached showers?

Yes, all our rooms are equipped with modern architecture and attached bathroom facilities with a western lavatory. We also ensure that you receive hot and cold water for your needs.

Do the rooms have towels?

Yes, we provide fresh towels to our residents as and when required. However, you are welcome to bring your towels if you wish.

Do all the rooms have views?

Yes! All our rooms have beautiful windows that give you panoramic views of the mountains, gardens, rivers, and the poolside.

Is there a cleaning service for the rooms?

Yes, we have a dedicated housekeeping department at Heartland Yoga. All the rooms will be kept neat and clean by our housekeeping staff. You can also request to clean your room as per your needs.

Is there wifi?

Yes, we provide free wifi services to all our students. However, due to unpredicted events like bad weather or heavy rains, the wifi services may be disrupted. This is usually fixed within the same day or the following day.

Is there a laundry facility?

Yes, we have laundry facilities for students to use. You may also choose to wash your clothes at the sink, and we have drying racks too. Most of the students choose to wash their undergarments by themselves. A washing machine is also available for students' use with a nominal charge.

Is the food safe?

Yes, the food we serve at Heartland Yoga is safe, healthy, and hygienic. We have a state-of-the-art kitchen with appropriate sanitary standards. Most of the vegetables used in the food we serve are grown in our organic farms. We bring "farm to table" cuisine to reality.

What are the meals served?

At Heartland Yoga, you will be served three healthy vegetarian meals every day. We have two restaurants that cook and serve these delicious dishes in buffet style. The food at Heartland Yoga is homemade and follows Indian cuisine. We also incorporate international flavors in some delicacies. Common breakfast dishes are fresh tropical fruits, homemade porridges, toasts, juices, coffees, teas, and sauteed vegetables. Savory lunch and dinners include curries, vegetables, soups, salads, brown rice, chapati, wraps, stir-fries, among many more. Apart from the healthy meals included in your package, you can also order a la carte juices, smoothies, and coconut waters at the juice bar. You can also mix your daily meals by ordering delicious items from our restaurant's healthy organic menu.

What if I'm vegan, gluten intolerant, or have allergies?

We pay high importance to your convenience. Vegan and gluten-free options are available in meals. If you are allergic to any food ingredient, kindly inform the front desk at the time of your check-in.

Is the water safe to drink?

Yes! We value the safety and health of our students and visitors. The water available here is fresh spring purified (RO) water available for free around the clock. If you would like to consume bottled water, we provide it on a standard charge.

If we miss the program, will the recording be available offline for viewing?

Yes! However It is best to attend the sessions live. If for some reason you cannot attend the session you registered for, You will be provided of recorded class which you can attend one of the deferred sessions at your convenience on the same day.

If I missed one of the sessions, can I attend the remaining ones?

Yes, you can.

How do I Enrol for the YTTC?

Please visit this link to enrol for the YTTC Click on the "Enroll" button and log in using your Heartland yoga profile. If you do not have an Heartland profile, you can click on "Sign Up" to create a profile. Then, fill the registration form and click on the "Complete Registration" button. Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email.

I did not receive the confirmation email for the program. What should I do?

If you have already submitted the registration form and did not receive a confirmation email, please check your Spam/Promotions/Other folders. If you are still unable to find it, please send your details to the support team from your registered email address. To find the contact details for the support team, click here.

Is my registration transferable to another person?

No, your registration cannot be transferred to another person.

Can I join after the YTTC starts?

The YTT program is structured in a way where you go through it step by step. So, it is important that you join the YTTC in time to experience it in its entirety.

I am unable to attend the session I enrolled for - what should I do?

It is mandatory to attend all the sessions. If you are not able to join the live session, you have the option of joining one of the deferred sessions at your convenience on the same day.

Technical Requirements (Online Courses)

Can I use a smartphone if I don't have a laptop or a tablet?

Yes, you can.

What are the recommended computer and internet requirements for this program?

You can use any laptop, desktop or mobile device. If you are using a phone, it is best to connect to Wi-Fi and keep the phone on Airplane mode during the session.

Please ensure that the device you use for the program is kept on charge for the entire duration of the program.

Internet Requirements:

Stable internet access.

Heartland Yoga have adopted Code of Conduct which applies to all HLYPL teachers. Heartland Yoga believe that it mainly is the responsibility of the teachers to facilitate and ensure a safe and protected environment in which a student can grow physically, mentally, and spiritually.

Heartland Yoga believe our teachers must aspire to and express the highest possible standards of conduct as set forth in our Code of Conduct.

Our Code of Conduct embodies the yamas and niyamas of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali which are rules of ethical conduct that apply to all practitioners of yoga.
